The IceSafari project team participated this year in the “European Researchers’ Night 2021” event, an event that invites the public to a fascinating journey into the world of science, giving visitors the opportunity to take part in scientific activities that combine education with entertainment. During the event, participants performed with researchers selected experiments in atmospheric sciences, acquiring basic knowledge about the world around them. Thus, at the IceSafari stand, children of all ages had the opportunity to perform experiments related to atmospheric phenomena, namely the formation of clouds, precipitation and tornadoes. They also learned how to measure different air pollutants or solar radiation using the devices provided by the team. Among the most attractive experiments was “Cloud in a jar” through which children discovered what clouds are, how they form and how we recognize them by forming a cloud in a jar. Also, through the experiment “Raining cottonballs” they learned to explain in a simple and interactive way the formation of rain with the help of materials used in everyday life.
European Researchers’ Night provided the public with the opportunity to discover not only the world of science, but also the people behind the experiments!
