The Cumbre Viejo Volcanic eruption (27-29 of September 2021) provided a unique opportunity to sample a rare atmospheric event. Therefore, dedicated flights were organized in S-SE Romania (Craiova and Black See coastline) to investigate any potential influence the volcanic aerosol and gasses had on cloud properties.
With this occasion, University of Oslo representatives participated actively in the campaign execution. During research flights, team members from INCAS and University of Oslo learned more about the way of operation, technical aspects and needs in terms of active operation during envisaged HoloScene campaigns. Data of these flights and also future ones will be exploited not only in IceSafari’s dedicated dissemination activities but also during the PhD research of one of INCAS team members (Moaca Denisa), in cooperation with University of Bucharest.
