PhD student Sebastian Iancu, research assistant in the IceSafari project, presented his research on Air quality measurements in Bucharest in the context of TROPOMI calibration / validation activities, a joint study with INCAS collaborators within RAMOS Project, at the ESA Living Planet Conference which took place on 23-27 May 2022 at Bonn.

In this paper, the researchers presented part of the results obtained from airborne measurements above Bucharest, Romania. The measurements are performed in the context of Sentinel 5P calibration/validation, and the strategy of these measurements is to have recurrent flights for the extension of one year. The idea behind this is to observe the variability of the city’s pollution, as the sources changes from one season to another. In a previous study from TROPOMI annual observation, were observed high variability of NO2 values including between different days of the week.
